Washington, DC -- Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) voted today to advance the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021 in the House Armed Services Committee. Representative Sherrill fought to include strong provisions in support of Picatinny Arsenal, sustainable energy, COVID-19 response, and justice for service members who have survived sexual assault. The NDAA passed unanimously, 56-0.

Washington, DC -- Today, Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Vice Chair of the Servicewomen and Women Veterans Caucus, announced the introduction of a House resolution designating June 12th as Women Veterans Appreciation Day to recognize the service and sacrifices of women veterans and bring attention to the unique needs of women veterans. Representative Sherrill’s resolution (H.Res. 1000) is a companion to S.Res. 616, introduced by Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ).

The PAWS for Veterans Therapy Act will create a pilot program within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to give veterans access to treatment derived from working with service dogs. Representative Sherrill is a lead sponsor of the PAWS for Veterans Therapy Act alongside author Representative Steve Stivers (R-OH).

Residents are invited to drop off Valentine’s Day cards for military veterans at Representative Sherrill’s District Office in Parsippany, starting today through Monday, February 10, 2020. Cards submitted in envelopes should not be sealed closed unless mailed to the district office. The cards will be distributed to veterans throughout the 11th Congressional District.
