Statement by Rep. Mikie Sherrill Following President Biden’s State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) released the following statement after President Biden’s 2024 State of the Union Address: 

“We will not back down from defending democracy – at home or abroad.

“Tonight President Biden delivered a strong, optimistic, forward-looking vision for America – fighting to regain the protections in Roe, ensuring a just and secure border, lowering costs for families, and protecting democratic values and our allies. It was a vision that stood in sharp contrast to his predecessor’s, and a vision I share. 

“The President laid out a path forward based on what has always defined us as Americans. I will continue to work in the House to ensure we support our allies, defend our freedoms, and make life more affordable for New Jersey families.” 

Rep. Sherrill’s guest for this year’s speech was Fran Ehret, the New Jersey State Director for the Communications Workers of America – which represents about 40,000 state workers, 15,000 county and local government workers, and more than 70,000 New Jersey families.
