Sherrill Statement on Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Today, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) released the following statement after Governor Phil Murphy’s announcement of New Jersey’s new Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way: 

“I applaud Governor Murphy for selecting Tahesha Way as New Jersey’s next Lieutenant Governor. While no one can truly replace the late Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, Tahesha is an outstanding choice to be her successor. She has decades of experience serving at nearly every level of state government — at the county level in Passaic, the courts, and as part of the Murphy Administration. 

“As our Secretary of State, she’s defended democracy and expanded access to the ballot box — helping more New Jersyans than ever before exercise their right to vote, even during a pandemic. 

“Tahesha and her family are active residents of the community in Wayne and Passaic County, and I was lucky enough to represent them in Congress for several years. I look forward to working with Tahesha as Lieutenant Governor, and send warm wishes to her husband and four children on this exciting day for New Jersey.”
