Sherrill, Malinowski to Host Facebook Live Discussion About Standing up to Musk, Trump

February 6, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) and former Representative Tom Malinowski (NJ-07) will host a Facebook live discussion about how Democrats, Congress, and New Jerseyans can stand up against President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and the Department of Governmental Efficiency (DOGE).

“President Donald Trump tried to give unelected billionaire Elon Musk the keys to the Department of the Treasury, and with it, the personal information of millions of American citizens. Over the past few days, I’ve heard from hundreds of New Jerseyans who are deeply concerned with this unlawful overreach of power. None of this is normal, and I refuse to sit back as Trump, Musk, and their billionaire cronies try to dismantle the Constitution of the United States. I look forward to sitting down with Tom to talk about how we can all work together to fight back. I encourage all who can to tune at 9:30 AM on my Facebook page to participate in this important discussion.” said Rep. Sherrill.

“Donald Trump has long understood that he can win by projecting strength and self-assurance, and forcing others to react to his actions. Now, the most important thing defenders of American democracy can do is not let that happen — and to seize every opportunity to turn Trump’s method back on him. I believe we have a powerful path forward to protect our country, through Congress, through our courts, and through the leadership of our states. I am looking forward to talking with Mikie about how strong Democratic leaders can stop Trump and Musk, and how concerned New Jersey citizens can take action to protect our democracy. I hope you’ll join us for this important conversation,” said former Rep. Malinowski.

Sherrill and Malinowski entered Congress together in 2019 in the midst of President Donald Trump’s first term and the longest government shutdown in history. Both Sherrill and Malinowski led on efforts to impeach President Trump and stood up to House Republicans in the wake of January 6th. Recently, Malinowski penned an op-ed in the Bulwark, outlining five things Democrats must do to fight back against Trump and the unelected billionaires who have seized government agencies and access to Americans’ private, personal information.
