Sherrill Backs NJ Lawsuit Over Unfair NY Congestion Pricing Plan

July 21, 2023

Parsippany, NJ— Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) released the following statement today after the announcement that New Jersey is suing over New York's congestion pricing plan that will cost New Jersey commuters up to a total of $40 each day to get into New York City for work.

Last month, I called on New Jersey to sue over New York's unfair, money-grabbing congestion pricing plan. This plan will cost a New Jersey commuter who works in person full time an additional $6,000 in transportation costs every year and it does not invest a single dollar into NJ Transit. I applaud the Governor for moving forward with this lawsuit and I'll be standing with New Jersey commuters every step of the way.”

Sherrill recently led a bipartisan group of New Jersey Members of Congress in calling on New York Governor Kathy Hochul to cancel the pending implementation of New York City’s congestion pricing plan, which will impose significant new costs on New Jersey commuters and families.
