Rep. Sherrill Votes for $15 Minimum Wage

July 18, 2019

Raise the Wage Act Gradually Increases Federal Minimum Wage; Follows New Jersey’s $15 Minimum Wage Law

Washington, DC – Today, Representative Sherrill voted to raise the wages for up to 33 million Americans and builds upon the $15 minimum wage bill New Jersey signed into law earlier this year. Representative Sherrill is a co-sponsor of the Raise the Wage Act, which gradually increases the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025 and ensures New Jersey's businesses are on an equal playing field with businesses across the country.

"Americans shouldn't have to hold down two or three jobs to make ends meet," said Representative Sherrill. "The Raise the Wage Act will put money back in the pockets of workers and families and will lift up our economy. It's been more than a decade since an increase in the federal minimum wage, and I'm proud to see the House of Representatives follow New Jersey's effort to help families, boost small businesses, and lift up our economy."
